How do these Eucharistic devotions bring me closer to God?
Simply drawing near to Christ's loving presence in the Eucharist is a tremendous blessing for our spiritual lives. As Blessed Carlo Acutis once said, when "we face the sun, we become tan ... but when we place ourselves in front of the Eucharistic Jesus, we become saints." The same Jesus who walked the streets of Galilee two thousand years ago-the same Jesus who performed miracles, healed the sick, comforted the suffering, strengthened the weak, and calmed the storms-continues to be present to us sacramentally today in the Blessed Sacrament. In the Gospels, people drew near to Jesus to seek his guidance, his help, and his comfort. They also drew near because they loved him and wanted to follow him. And we can do the same. Indeed, that same Jesus is longing for you to draw near to him in the Blessed Sacrament. He wants to be very close to you. He is present in all the tabernacles in churches and chapels throughout the world. He wants you to come to him with whatever is troubling you. He wants you to rest in his presence. He longs for your heart to make time for him. As St. John Paul II once said, "Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease."
