Annual Mass of Atonement
The annual Mass of Atonement will be held on April 29, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Holy Apostles Parish (16000 W National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151). This Mass is one of the ways that the current leadership of the Archdiocese publicly atones for the clergy abuse crisis and scandal. We invite you to join us in support of the survivors, family members, and communities that have spoken or unspoken stories of survival and pain. If you are unable to attend, we would ask that you please remember all those that suffer from the wounds of abuse in your prayers for peace, healing, and justice. Please visit www.archmil.org for more information.
Safe Environment Week April 21-April 27
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee recognizes April 21st-April27th as Safe Environment Awareness Week. Each year in the month of April, which is recognized around the country as child abuse prevention month, we dedicate a week to elevating the general awareness of the Church's efforts to keep our children safe. We want people to know that we are committed to maintaining safe environments in our parishes and schools through adult child abuse prevention training; criminal background checks for all clergy, volunteers working with minors, and employees; safety training for children in each grade level; and adhering to all mandatory reporting requirement laws.

How could I ever be worthy to receive Holy Communion?
It is fitting that just prior to receiving Holy Communion, we pray, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed" (emphasis added). This prayer, inspired by the humility of the Roman centurion (see Matthew 8:5-13), teaches us two important lessons. The first is that we should approach the Eucharist with great humility and reverence. On our o, we are not worthy to receive this amazing gift of the Real Presence of Christ into our souls. The second is that this is a gift God desires to give us. God wants us to receive him in the Eucharist, and he can help us worthily receive him through the sacramental graces of Baptism and Reconciliation. In fact, the Eucharist itself cleanses us of venial sins, so we should not be afraid to approach Christ in Holy Communion if we have properly prepared ourselves to do so.
